I'm too busy. I'm energized and invigorated (1st grade vocab word!) by all of it, but still... too busy : )
Today was a good day in the classroom. Each day I feel more like I know what I am doing and that it is a little less like work and a little more like something I was made to do. The feeling is so encouraging.
I sent home my first progress reports yesterday and got many signed slips back. There was room for parent comments on each of them. One of them was very special as both the mom and dad wrote me notes. They thanked me for having patience with their daughter and being such a great teacher to her. They commented that she loves school. How can you not love this job after that?
I also got a phone call from a dad who noticed that the progress report asked that he call me for an appointment and he was calling to make one. Thank you, Lord, for responsible parents! I'm eager to meet with the family tomorrow- the girl is a total blessing to our classroom. She has the sweetest, kindest spirit. She adds so much to our room! But I need to talk to them about her academics. She needs help and my job is to help the parents help her. Please pray that this would be a blessed time for all of us.
This morning at my prayer meeting, the lady I meet with had written a verse for me to take and meditate on. It is wonderful. You must read it as well. Zephaniah 3:17 says "The LORD is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing."
Isn't that wonderful? He takes delight in me! He rejoices over me! It paints a beautiful picture of his love.
At lunch today, one of the ladies told me that another girl on our team was having a rough morning, that she was frustrated and felt defeated. I really like this girl and wanted to encourage her. I don't know if she's a Christian, but I sent her an e-mail telling her that I hoped she felt better and I included the verse- explaining how marvelous it was to have the Lord of all creation delight in us.
She e-mailed back and commented to me later how thankful she was for that e-mail. I don't know if she is a believer, but I believe that He is mighty to save. The lady I meet with for prayer is so bold in asking God to save, redeem and forgive the people at our school. It is amazing. Why don't I pray that boldly and directly? Please pray for my first grade teacher friend- that she would know salvation.
Tomorrow is one of my special boy's birthdays. Mom is coming to school and is going to bring birthday treats for him to share with our class. Please pray that he would feel loved and blessed. He so needs encouragement...
I pray that you feel loved and blessed, too : )
